The 1945 N.F.C.V.I. Junior Boys Basketball Team played against Welland, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Stamford, Merritton and St. Catharines High Schools and went undefeated in their regular season schedule. At the time, it was the final year of World War II and due to war restraints, the team’s court was a concrete floor. However, under the coaching of Jimmy Rose, the team played winning basketball and defeated much larger schools to win the Zone Championship. At the C.O.S.S.A. Championships, the team played in the University of Toronto gymnasium. The N.F.C.V.I. team defeated Orillia in semi-final play, and in the finals, they went on to beat a Kingston High School team to become the 1945 C.O.S.S.A. Champions.
