In 1935- 36 the Niagara Falls Collegiate and Vocational School Senior Basketball team won the City Championship, beating Stamford Collegiate. Following this win they claimed the District title by beating St. Catharines, and then on to Hamilton, Ontario for the semi-finals, where they won again. The COSSA Championship game was held in Toronto, against Barrie, where N.F.C.V.I. took home the title of COSSA Champions of Ontario ; The starting five were Leo MacKenzie- Centre; Monk Morden and Jack Stephenson- forwards; Dan Carter and Jim Swayze- guards. The other teammates played a large part in their team’s victory over Barrie. At this time, winning COSSA was the ultimate goal, as OFSAA was not yet in place ; An interesting note about the finals is that ‘Red Storey’ was the top Barrie player and went on to excel in lacrosse, football, and referee in the National Hockey League. To add to their many accomplishments, all members of the N.F.C.V.I. team served our country in World War II. ;
