Max Kaminsky was a talented hockey centreman and baseball player. He played for Niagara Falls Cataracts junior and senior squads which won Ontario Hockey Association titles in 1930-31 and 1932-33 and was scouted by several major league baseball teams. In 1933 Max was one of four Cataract's signed by the National Hockey League Ottawa Senators. He also played for St. Louis Eagles and Boston Bruins and had a successful American Hockey League career as a player and a coach, winning several A.H.L. championships in the 1940s. Max was honoured at the A.H.L’s best defensive forward while at Springfield and won the Dapper Dan Award as Pittsburghs outstanding sports person when he coached the Hornets.

While barred from playing amateur baseball because he was a hockey professional, Max coached bantam, juvenile and junior teams in the Niagara Falls Baseball Association leagues. When the rule was rescinded, he played with Niagara Falls Brights seniors from 1938-41, winning four Niagara District championships and Ontario Baseball Association titles in 1940-41. He was playing coach of the 1942 Niagara Falls senior team and later played and coached in Welland. Max spent his final days in hockey coaching youngsters and in 1959-60 led the St. Catharines Tee Pees juniors to the Canadian championship, winning the Memorial Cup.
