Kathleen Hunt began her badminton career at the Niagara Falls Badminton Club at the age of eight. Advancing from many local and regional championships, she won the 1987 Provincial Badminton Doubles for girls under 16 years of age and in 1989 was victorious in the Ontario under 19 years of age Mixed Doubles. In addition, she participated in the 1989 Ontario Winter Games Badminton Tournament winning her division.
In 1988 Kathleen competed in the Pan-American Games and achieved success by taking the Ladies Doubles in the under 16 years of age category. Also in 1988, as Kathleen continued on the road to victory, this gifted young athlete won the under 16 years of age Mixed Doubles Canadian Badminton Championship. In a sport that requires a great deal of self-discipline, Kathleen Hunt is a worthy ambassador of the City of Niagara Falls.
