Jo Perkins has been a Director of Stamford Skating Club since 1952 and has held the position of Secretary since 1953.

Jo is also a judge with the Canadian Figure Skating Association, judging year round at various clubs since 1974.

In 1985, Jo was selected Volunteer of the Year by the Western Ontario Section of the Canadian Figure Skating Association.

Jo was the recipient of the Doug Austin Sportsperson of the Year Award in 1987, the first woman to receive this award.

In December of 1987, Jo was honoured with a Certificate of Merit from the Government of Canada for her volunteer contributions.

In her honour, Stamford Skating Club established the first “Jo Perkins Skaters Volunteer Award”, in 1988. The newly initiated award honours a member of the Club who volunteers time to other skaters.

Jo’s accomplishments and her many years of dedication to the sport of Figure Skating has indeed earned her induction to the Sports Wall of Fame.
