Gord Wade has been an outstanding athlete in the sport of badminton for many years. Gord was the Ontario Men's Single Champion from 1958-1962 as a Junior badminton player. In 1962, he reached the finals in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Gord continued to participate in badminton for the next twenty -five years. He was successful in 1988 by capturing the World Masters Men's Double Championship in Denmark. During these years he has volunteered his time to promote his sport. Gord has worked with the Junior Badminton Program at the Niagara Falls Badminton Club for the past ten years. Gord has encouraged young people to participate in an individual sport through dedication and work hard. The program has progressed from fifteen athletes to over one hundred young people who may some day be as successful as Gord Wade.
