In 1967, the Stamford Centre Firemen Bantam Baseball Team, comprised of 14 and 15 year olds from Niagara Falls, won the Ontario Major "A" Bantam Championship in a 2 game sweep over Oshawa.
To reach the Championship series, the Firemen, carrying the banner of the GNBA, played against and defeated the best teams in Ontario. Their competitors included all star teams such as Welland, North Toronto and Kitchener.
The Championship was a best of 2 out of 3 series in which Niagara Falls showed dramatic come-from-behind finishes on consecutive days. Trailing 2-0 in the first game, the host Firemen rallied to tie the game in the eighth inning. They then scored an unearned run in the tenth inning for a narrow 3-2 victory. The following day in Oshawa, Niagara Falls was once again behind by two runs and rallied in the eighth inning to tie the score. A three run outburst in the ninth inning result in an 8 -5 victory and the coveted OBA Provincial Championship for the Stamford Centre Firemen Bantam Baseball Team.
