Canadian National Railway CNR Juvenile Baseball Team 1932 C.N.R. captured the 1932 Ontario Baseball Amateur Association juvenile championship, the first provincial baseball honours won by a Niagara Falls Amateur Baseball Association team and the first provincial title for the Niagara district. It was the inaugural season for the N.F.B.A. juvenile series and the first year in an organized league for most of the players. The squad was managed and sponsored by C.N.R. engineer Amos Stuart and coached by former senior player Joe Kelly. C.N.R. placed second in league play and beat St. Annes in a tough playoff series to qualify as N.F.B.A. representative in the provincial playdowns. The railroaders defeated Crowland in four games, Intercounty champion Ingersoll in three games and then faced Peterborough in the final series. In the third and deciding game at Toronto's Maple Leaf Stadium, the C.N.R. team used steady pitching, smart fielding and timely hitting, scoring six runs in the ninth inning, to soundly defeat Peterborough 7 -0 and claim the Ontario title. |
